We fight to free the wrongfully convicted, exonerate the innocent, and bring justice to the justice system.
Since it began in 2007, the Exoneration Project (EP) has provided free legal services to fight for the wrongfully convicted. At the EP we have a unique, collaborative structure: we operate as a free legal clinic at the University of Chicago Law School and often partner with other innocence organizations like the Exoneration Justice Clinic at Notre Dame Law School. We are staffed with EP attorneys, who collaborate with interns, clinic students, and other attorneys, along with our team of investigators, case manager, and dedicated paralegals and administrative support staff.
When innocent people are convicted of crimes they did not commit, the consequences for the lives of the wrongfully convicted and their families are truly devastating. By investigating and petitioning courts to reverse wrongful convictions, the Exoneration Project is dedicated to restoring justice. Learn more about our work and what you can do to get involved.
